Digital Citizenship

  • Private and Anonymous
    • SILENTLY walk around the room and look at the pictures
    • Say whatever you want to about this person anonymously by writing a message or drawing a pictures
      • This can be positive or negative
    • In groups, examine the messages people left on your person
    • Answer the following questions on a piece of paper as a group:
      • How did you feel when given the chance to get things off your chest and write anonymous messages?
      • How do you think the person would feel reading your messages, especially the negative ones?
      • What are the advantages of being anonymous?
      • What are the disadvantages of being anonymous?
      • Do you feel a greater sense of freedom to voice your opinions when you are anonymous?  Explain.
      • Do you think being anonymous online gives you more confidence to be the person that you want to be?  Explain.
      • Do you think people act more irresponsibly online when their identity is hidden?  Explain.
      • Do you think when bullying happens online it is harder to effectively deal with the case if people are anonymous?  Explain.
  • Pick a Side Debate
    • Statements will be read aloud
    • Choose whether you agree or disagree and go to that side of the room
    • Each side can defend their answer
      • If you want to switch sides based on what people say you may
